Speech Intelligibility Test for Polish Language – Relation to the Acoustic Properties of Classrooms and Comparison to Other Languages

Numerous studies have shown that teachers often speak louder in classrooms because of the acoustic properties spaces. To improve acoustics classrooms, it is necessary to develop relevant criteria. Existing evaluation scales for parameters room been developed on basis adults a variety languages (e.g. Dutch and English). One issues still not fully recognized effect respondents’ language age results speech intelligibility tests. The aim study was recognize possibility applying some international guidelines room acoustics adult Polish schools. This paper presents Polish-speaking children (10–13 years old) conjunction with acoustics. It also compares other languages. confirmed relationship between tests transmission index STI varied showed word test are similar English (Anderson, Kalb, 1987; Jacob et al., 1990).
